This Week's Stuff: Practices, Game, and More!

Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 8:30ish pm to later at Kiwanis Park (in the light near the tennis courts)

Game!
Thursday, Sept. 29, at 8:15 pm at North University Field #4

Monies
T-shirts cost $12.  Feel free to slip me (Sarah) the money the next time you see me.

Third Week Practices!

We're going to have two practices before this Thursday's game.

1. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 7 pm at Kiwanis Park. (Note: The time is a change from my original post.)  PLEASE try to attend this practice if you're going to be at Thursday's game.  It will be very important and helpful to have us learn our actual positions--and learn to work with our QB!  Hooray for Erika!

2. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 8:30 pm at Kiwanis Park.  This practice will be a little less formal, but a second practice will be helpful (heh hem), so come to this too, if you can.

Go, team!

Important Details for Saturday's Game

1. We're having practice at Kiwanis Park from 9:30-10:45 am.  COME!  Our first practice was really fun and helpful, and it turns out--there are things to learn (routes, plays, positions).  We're starting off on a strong foot, but if you arrive to play in Saturday's game but have not (a) played before or (b) come to a practice, it will take some sidelines memorizing.

2. We must each bring picture ID with us to the game on Saturday!  Doesn't have to be your school ID card--can be government-issued.

3. Be at the game by 11 am!  Even though it starts later than that, we each need to check in, and the intramurals people are (apparently) super fastidious about start time.  If we do not have our women checked in BY start time, we forfeit.  So that's lame.

4. Wear a blue shirt.  We are in the process of having team t-shirts made, but for this first game, just wear a blue shirt (any will do, but something BYU--either BYU blue or the midnight blue--is best).  We might still have to wear their pinnies if they make us, but at least we'll look uniform in some way.

5. Wear appropriate clothings.  The clothing requirements are detailed.  They are these:
  • Shirts/jerseys must be long enough to remain tucked in pants/shorts during the entire down.
  • Players must wear athletic pants or shorts without any belt(s), belt loop(s), or exposed drawstrings. Pants or shorts without pockets are strongly recommended. Jeans and other pants/shorts with pockets made of unyielding material will not be allowed!
  • Shirts and shoes must be worn. Sleeveless shirts are not allowed.
  • A player wearing illegal equipment shall not be permitted to play. This applies to any equipment that, in the opinion of the Supervisor or Referee, is dangerous or confusing. Types of equipment or substances which shall always be declared illegal include:
    (a) Headwear containing any hard, unyielding, stiff material, including billed hats or
    items containing exposed knots.
    (b) Jewelry.
    (c) A cast or brace made of hard or unyielding substance, such as, but not limited to,
    leather, plaster, plastic, or metal.
    (d) Shoes with metal or ceramic cleats. Cleats with studs or projections that exceed ½
inch in length are also illegal.
    (e) Shirts or jerseys that do not remain tucked in. Any hood on a coat, sweatshirt, or
shirt that does not remain tucked in is also illegal.
    (f) Pants or shorts with any belt(s), belt loop(s), or exposed drawstring(s).
    (g) Knee and ankle braces, which are altered from the manufacturer’s original design.
    (h) Exposed metal on clothes or person.
    (i) Towels attached at the player’s waist.
Note: I can't find any details about the length of shorts in this document.  So I don't know what to say there.

First Week Practices

PRACTICES this week:
  • Wednesday, Sept. 7, from 5:15-6:45 pm at Kiwanis Park (look for the women with the footballs) (Note: This practice will focus on game rules, positions, basic skills, and routes.)
  • Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9:30-10:45 am at Kiwanis Park (Note: This practice will focus on running plays, so it would be great if we could have everyone there.)
Wear sports clothes and shoes. Bring any footballs you own and water bottles.  And we're off!
